Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru - La Maltroie

Origin of the climate

The history of wine-growing Burgundy dates back to ancient times and its localities have been witnesses to our past. The Latin origin of the maltroie, “marturetum”, suggests that this plot is based on an ancient necropolis prior to the 4th century. Located on a gentle slope, at an altitude of 240 to 255 m, this plot of almost 3 hectares enjoys an east-south-east orientation and clay soil with small pebbles.
